What we found

The house is about ten years old, built in a heritage style with complicated interior mouldings. The previous work had runs, patchy coverage, uneven joints and caulking that had not been smoothed.

How the work was done

1. Sand back all of the woodwork: columns, window sills and panelling.
2. Scrape out the old caulking and re-caulk every joint.
3. Fill the baseboard nail holes that had been painted over without filling, sand them, and repaint.
4. Paint the ceilings first, filling the gaps around the light openings so the fittings seat properly.
5. Mask the edges and paint the walls.

How it turned out

Two to three painters worked for two weeks, weekends included, against an original estimate of one. Because the owner had already paid once, Mayda absorbed the extra and finished at the quoted price. The owner was pleased and paid floor by floor, starting upstairs.

The owner's realtor recommended Mayda, having used the company for their own home.
