Exterior Cleaning and Pressure Washing
Mayda provides exterior cleaning and preparation cleaning before painting. The material, staining, existing damage and any planned follow-on work shape the approach.
Planning the scope
Identify the walls, paving or other areas involved. Share photos and information about water access, drainage and surrounding features. Equipment and cleaning method are assessed for the surface rather than applying one high-pressure approach everywhere.
How we plan the work
- Assess the surface. Discuss the material, existing condition, access and the areas involved.
- Agree the preparation and treatment. Put protection, cleaning or repairs, any agreed follow-on coating and responsibilities into the scope.
- Carry out and review the agreed work. Confirm suitable conditions, check the scope together and discuss the actual product’s drying and return-to-use requirements.
Does cleaning remove the need for repainting?
Cleaning and repainting address different needs. Fading, coating damage or other defects may still require separate preparation and coating work.
How Mayda does this
On exteriors, fences, decks and roofs, pressure washing is the first thing Mayda does — and the most useful look at what is actually there.
It gets the coating onto sound material. Moss, dirt and the grey weathered layer come off first.
It shows the real condition. With the surface clean you can see which fence boards have gone, which window trim has rotted and how much of the old coating is still holding.
That is when the scope gets settled honestly. On one East Vancouver house it meant scraping back the failed paint and caulking the cracks. Next door it meant replacing the wood around the upper windows before anything could be painted.
Wood needs drying time afterwards. On fences and decks, count on about five or six days before coating.
