What we found

A dark, near-monochrome exterior shows workmanship rather than hiding it. The line between frame and sash, the curve of the porch arch and the joint where shingle meets stone are all read at a glance from the street, and none of them can be sprayed carelessly and tidied later.

How this kind of work is done

Mayda washes the exterior first, which is also the inspection: once the dirt and the weathered layer are off, it is clear which boards are sound, which coating still holds and where wood needs replacing before anything is applied. Sashes, frames and the arch are cut in by hand. Walls take a mid-to-high grade coating; the frames, fascia and door — fully exposed — take the best available.
