- When
- Spring 2026
- Surfaces
- Kitchen cabinet doors and boxes
What we found
Solid wood cabinets in the original wood tone, in good structural condition but dated, with cooking grease on the surfaces.
How the work was done
- Clean all of the cooking grease off the surfaces first.
- Take the cabinet doors off.
- Prime, then sand.
- Two top coats.
How it turned out
The kitchen reads as modern once the doors go back on. Keeping the solid wood boxes costs far less than replacing the kitchen, and cabinets of that timber quality are hard to buy now. The existing handles were reused.
