2027 paint colours: bringing green into a Vancouver home

Webster Green HC-130 and Celery SW 6421 are confirmed 2027 colour selections. Use them as a starting point for testing light, materials and scale in your own home.

Two newly published colour choices offer a useful starting point for a home refresh. They also invite a practical question: how much green would work with the rooms and materials you already have?

Start with confirmed names and codes

Benjamin Moore’s 2027 Colour of the Year is Webster Green HC-130. Sherwin-Williams has selected Celery SW 6421 for its 2027 Color of the Year. These are two separate branded colours, not interchangeable names for the same paint. Both announcements were checked on 14 October 2026.

A trend announcement can help you make a shortlist. It does not decide the final colour, coating or sheen for your house.

Choose the scale before choosing every wall

Consider three different briefs: a small accent such as a door or built-in; one room with its trim considered alongside the walls; or a connected series of spaces. Each brief asks a different question about contrast and continuity.

As a design exercise, hold the candidate beside the flooring, stone, cabinetry and furniture that will remain. Ask which element should lead and which should sit quietly behind it. You may find a small painted detail gives the change you want without extending the colour throughout the home. These are planning suggestions, not a claim that one scheme suits every property.

Look in the room’s own light

Farrow & Ball’s guidance explains why daylight and artificial light change how colour is perceived. Make your decision with physical samples in the actual space. A phone screen or a photograph of somebody else’s room is a useful reference, but a poor final approval record.

Compare your shortlist at the times when you use the room. Keep the intended evening lamps on for an evening check. Set the samples beside existing finishes and look from the doorway as well as close up.

For an exterior, include the whole property

Bring the roof, siding, masonry and trim into the discussion. Decide whether the door should stand out or connect with another element. If the building is subject to strata or other colour approvals, check the process before ordering materials.

A manufacturer’s colour name is not a specification for an exterior coating. Record the appropriate product and finish separately.

Finish with one clear specification

Can another brand reproduce the colour? Treat a proposed match as a separate sample to approve; do not assume a name or code guarantees the same finished result.

Do we have to choose a trend colour? No. The useful outcome is a palette that works in your space and that you still want to live with.

Use our paint-colour testing guide and ask about colour consultation. Keep the brand, product, code, sheen, surface and approval together when you discuss your project with Mayda.
